Virtual Printers
A virtual printer is a RIP-Queue printer used as a Windows printer. When a RIP-Queue printer is installed, a Windows printer is automatically added to your system. When a job is printed to that Windows printer, the job is sent to RIP-Queue for processing and printing. You may use any application to print to the Virtual Printer: Graphic design programs, word processors, internet browsers, or other applications. Just choose File > Print in the application. When a virtual printer is created, it is also shared automatically on the network. This means that any computer on the network, Windows or Macintosh, can print using RIP-Queue through the virtual printer from any application. Adding a Virtual Printer to other Windows systems: From the Windows Start menu, click the Control Panel > Printers. Double-click Add Printer. Choose Add a Network Printer, and browse to the system where RIP-Queue is installed. Install the virtual printer. Adding a Virtual Printer to a Macintosh: Verify that you have Windows/Macintosh connectivity capabilities such as PCMacLAN or Windows 2000 Server. From the Macintosh, open the Chooser. Select LaserWriter or another PostScript driver category from the left-side of the Chooser. Select the virtual printer from the right-side of the Chooser. On the Program CD (under Extras/WinConnect/PPDs for Quark) or Mac CD included in your package, find and run the appropriate PPD for your printer. NOTE: Virtual Printers require that you have access to Hot Folders. See Permissions to verify that your program has Hot Folders. You can configure some options for your virtual printer by clicking Advanced in the Printer dialog.
